Few riders embody cycling’s multi-disciplinary spirit like Mathieu van der Poel. Born in Kapellen, Belgium, and raised in the Netherlands, he carries a golden pedigree—his grandfather was the legendary Raymond Poulidor, the eternal Tour de France podium finisher loved by the French public. From that heritage, Van der Poel forged his own explosive style: he’s a four-time world cyclocross champion, winning across frozen fields and muddy courses with unmatched finesse. Off-road he’s also excelled on the mountain bike, taking multiple World Cup victories and a European title.
On the road, his résumé is equally glittering, with victories at the Tour of Flanders, Amstel Gold, Milan–San Remo and a dominant world championship road race. Van der Poel blends his grandfather’s grit with a modern, all-terrain brilliance that makes him one of the most thrilling riders of his generation
