Tadej Pogačar’s victory at the 2024 Giro d’Italia was nothing short of emphatic—a statement win that marked his debut in the race and underlined his status as one of the most complete Grand Tour riders in modern cycling.

From early on, Pogačar made clear it was game on. After winning Stage 2 at Santuario di Oropa, he took the leader’s pink jersey and never looked back.

His dominance was devastating: he secured six individual stage wins, including a commanding attack on the 20th stage finishing atop Monte Grappa that blew the race to bits in the final week.

Perhaps most striking was the margin: Pogačar crossed the line almost 10 minutes ahead of his nearest rival, Daniel Martínez—making it the largest winning margin in the Giro since 1965. Beyond that, he also clinched the Mountains classification, displaying not just speed and time-trial skill but true climbing supremacy.

The Giro win was also part of Pogačar’s bid for the Giro-Tour double, something no one has managed since 1998. It wasn’t just a trophy—this triumph felt like confirmation that when in form, he is capable of dominating a three-week race across all terrains.
